
When a spirited 80-year-old widow and her retirement home crew are arrested for playing small-stakes card games, their hilarious and heartfelt battle to overturn outdated gambling laws spark a movement for justice - proving it’s never too late to play by your own rules.

The film follows the easygoing and sociable Adele Green and her retirement home friends. When a disagreement between the nearby poker players gets the police involved to enforce an obscure old Maryland state law on gambling, Adele's treasured mahjong group - and the social support that comes with it - is put at risk. Adele's daughter Renee, the disgruntled poker player Harold, and other friends and family come together in defense of these seniors and their social lives.

Granny Has A Gambling Problem addresses the often overlooked issues of senior loneliness and isolation.

The Granny Has A Gambling Problem script was written between 2025 and 2026. Filming wrapped on May 22, 2026. The film is now in post-production with editing expected to be complete by September 2026.
